Marissa is a wife, mom, attorney, and volunteer.
Marissa moved to The Woodlands, in late 2014, after marrying her amazing husband, Michael. They reside in The Woodlands with their two-year-old daughter, Madelyn, and their “ferocious” feline, Crockett.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a focus in international relations from Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas.
Prior to joining the legal field as an attorney, Marissa utilized her Poli-Sci degree serving the State of Texas in the Office of the Governor. She received her introduction to the legal world as an Executive Assistant to Justice Jeffrey S. Boyd of the Texas Supreme Court.
In 2018, Marissa earned her Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law- Houston. During law school, Marissa worked as a Judicial Intern at the Thirteenth Court of Appeals in Judge Greg Perkes Chambers, interned at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, and interned at the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. Marissa also competed in the Clara Barton International Humanitarian Law competition in Washington, D.C., participated as an advocate in South Texas Mock Trial class competition, and assisted our Veterans with legal needs in the South Texas College of Law Veterans Clinic.
During the end of law school, she served as a law clerk for Coats & Evans then became an attorney for the firm. She served there for a few years then transitioned from the aviation law world to civil litigation, trademarks, and probate work at Stanfield & Dupre as a contract attorney.
At the close of 2021, on the same day their daughter was born, Marissa received her acceptance from the Army JAG Corps to become an Army JAG reserve officer. While going through the ascensions process for the Army JAG, Marissa took maternity leave from work for a time and got back into the legal field with Stanfield & Dupre. After serving at Stanfield & Dupre for about a couple of years, she found herself wanting to get back into public service and do more. Marissa then served in the Walker County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney for almost a year. Just before finishing the ascensions process for Army JAG and after much thought and prayer, Marissa and her husband decided that it was best to set aside her desires to serve in the Army JAG and as a prosecutor to raise their daughter.
After about a year and half of being stay at home mom she felt the time was right to get back into law and start this firm. When not practicing law or taking care of her family, she enjoys going to the shooting range, reading with her book club, volunteering, and working out with the goal of getting back into competitive athletic competitions.
